Michael Taylor
Senior Director of CMO Business Development
Michael D. Taylor brings over two decades of leadership experience in biotech business development, commercial development, licensing, and strategic partnerships, driving growth across global CDMOs and precision medicine innovators. His work centers on forging high-impact collaborations in development and manufacturing of mammalian and microbial derived biologics, monoclonal antibodies, enzyme replacement therapies, ADCs, RNA therapeutics—bridging cutting-edge science with scalable manufacturing and commercialization strategies.
At the forefront of emerging biotech ventures, Michael recently served as Vice President of Business Development at a Startup Incubator Studio, where he advised early-stage life science companies on formation, fundraising, partnership strategy, and built investor networks supporting Stanford Oncology spinouts navigating early commercialization.
Previously, as Vice President of Business Development at Abzena, Michael led precision medicine and ADC-focused business growth across the West Coast, closing high-value R&D and manufacturing agreements. Before that, as Senior Director at Scorpius Biomanufacturing, he was instrumental in launching a new CDMO, establishing operational infrastructure, and securing foundational clinical supply deals during the company’s inaugural year.
Michael held Key Account Manager roles at Boehringer Ingelheim CDMO and Novo Nordisk playing a key role in securing multimillion-dollar clinical and commercial supply and service agreements, licensing and development agreements with large biopharma clients.
Earlier in his career, Michael held business development roles at KBI Biopharma, Sartorius, and Thermo Fisher, where he built a strong foundation in biologics R&D, selling platform technologies for manufacturing, and commercialization. His technical background in process sciences and his MBA-driven business acumen uniquely position him to lead at the intersection of innovation and growth.
Michael holds a B.A. in Biology from the University of Colorado at Boulder and an M.B.A. from the University of Phoenix, San Francisco. He is recognized for his ability to cultivate trust-based partnerships, lead strategic negotiations, and expand commercial footprints across the biotech and pharmaceutical landscape.
